ridgid 12 v drill/driver power loss

I just got a ridgid 12 v 3/8 inch lithium ion drill/driver. It works great most of the time, but occasionally will lose power for no apparent reason. It seems as though I can get it to work again, sometimes, if I pull out the rechargeable battery and reinsert it. The manual states "During some applications, the battery electronics may signal the battery to shut down, and cause the tool to stop running". This happened 5 or 6 times during the last couple days while I was driving 2.5" patio screws into 2x4s. Has anyone else had this problem with this tool? Thanks.

are you sure you are suing the right tool for the job, i thought those new smaller drills were small jobs, small screws and light duty. like putting on hinges, handles more refined work.
for 2 1/2 inch screw i would use a bigger drill.
over work the tools and i hear they over heat and shut off

I think you have discovered the limit of the tool. Lithium batteries are limited in their power output; I think you have reached it. Try a bigger drill, or get the matching impact driver.

If the tool stalls/stops, you are actively damaging your batteries.

For 2.5 screws and treated wood you need a 14.4/18v impact driver.
