3612 table top

I've had my saw about a month now and love it. The only problem I've had is with the table top. There are some spotches that were there when I opened the box. I thought it would be no problem to clean them up and go on, but it seems that they have resisted all my efforts to remove them. I have tried steel wool and even some light sand papering with and without WD40. Now they seem to be growing even though I have waxed with Minwax after each try. Any suggestions?

I've had the ones on my 2424 for two years now...they don't affect anything but the looks...I'd like to get them off, but have found nothing so far that will do it....
