How do I get the shape for an oval table top. Is there a jig fot it. It is for a coffee table.

I hope this can help. Make a template of half of your top from a heavy paper or card board of your plan. lay that on your top and mark. turn the half of paper over and line your start to finish ends to the marks on the other side. This should match both sides for the oval you want.

To layout an oval you need two nails, some string, and a pencil. By varring the spacing of the nails and the length of the string you change the size and shape of the oval as show below. The farther apart the nails the longer and thinner the ellipse will be
