It is recommended that you turn on the water, flush the toilet to get water moving down the drain. This should help with visibility. If there is a blockage and it is draining slowly you may be able to let that water recede before you look at the problem area. If it is completely blocked you can wait for the water to settle which may allow you to see what the problem is. Try to get very close to the obstruction if you can. Sometimes you can look through the water if you are very close. Also pipe guides are great for raising your camera off the bottom and out of the water.
