Can I or should I plane plywood through my planer? I want to make a dado insert for my 3612 and I think the 1/2" MDO ply I have is just a shade too thick. Any help would be appreciated.

You can if you are only shaving a bit, as in not going through the layer. If you plane into the next layer the grain will be running the wrong direction and it will likely fly apart. Make sure you start with a peice of wood that is longer than your planer is wide so there is no possibility of it turning sideways and shooting back out. If you hit the glue layer you will dull the blades pretty quick, I would think that the MDO paper layer would also dull blades

I'd use a belt sander.
