Our old 33KHz locator sonde developed a short. It is not a ridgid tool, and no info can be found on it. It is apprx 1/2" diameter, by 2.5" long, and screws on the end of a fiberglass pushrod. It operates on 33KHz standard wavelength, and is powered by 2 hearing aid-type batteries. We used it for over 10years, in pipe diameters as large as 12inches, and as small as 2". It has now quit operating completely.
Ridgid sent us a color pamphlet clearly showing a grouping of 4 "diagnostic transmitters", but no part numbers. Are these not available as stand-alone items? Does anyone have any knowlage of how these transducers (transmitters, sondes) werk, or schematics? Are they like Fishfinfinder transducers (except for operating frequency), or are they more like CB radio transmitters? What mode of operation do they employ (CW,AM,FM,SSB)?
I understand the Ridgid "diagnostic transmitters" will work with the Navitrack locators, but can find no part numbers.
BTW, this forum is a fantastic idea (whoever thunk it up).
Thnx in advance.
