help with finishes

i have been making some aruqrium stands at hame for friends and self....i tried to spray on the minwax polyshades with good resalts smile.gif but some of the colors that i want to ust only comes in the reagular stains so i have to use polyurathane for the clear coat....i was wondering if poly can be sprayed on too and if so is there any tricks...i also live in sunny south florida where the paint will dry before it comes out of the can:P(well almost be dried)
