Craftsman "Electronic" Radial Saw Question

Hi, my brother has one of these saws. model no. 113-198211. He was messing around with an adjustment in the rear, and now, when the arm is in the lock position, two things happen. One, the arm has about a 2" play at the front, and the lock handle will not "close" to the lock position.

I have an electronic one so perhaps I can help. I am not sure what model I have but the adjustments are all similar. HAs he followed the adjustment procedure in the manual? What do you mean by play? (left - right or up - down)
