Well as some know we decided to go with glazed ceramic tile for our kitchen back splash. Now I need to drill a couple of 1/4" holes to mount some shelf rails and the dishwasher to the wall. What is the right way to do this? Masonry bit or one of those diamond shaped bits?

I always use a small punch to start with and chip away a small starter hole. Then, I use a masonry bit.
BadgerDave's idea is very good. I do like this bit
as I have used it the past week drilling 15 holes
in tile and have found it to be excellent.

I was going to grab my camera but thanks to jaco I dont need to. That is the bit I have used with success in floor and bathroom wall tile. Works good with no cracked tiles but I find you need to go slow to avoid over heating the bit

bit choice was my question. I wasn't sure which would be better the one in the photo or a 1/4" masonry bit.
Thanks All
