Zero Clearance Insert

The new item I would like to see is a replaceable zero clearance insert from Ridgid for the table saws.
It would be nice to have a standard metal plate that you could replace the centers where the blade rubs, by snapping them in from the underneath side of the insert and fastening them securely. Then inserting the complete insert back into the saw using the stock plate clip, retainer screw and 4 leveling screws, then cutting the blade groove. This would be very handy and I believe much safer than the homemade versions. There is too much gap around the blade on the stock plate for wood fragments to kick out. This should reduce this problem…

Make it so a woodworker could buy one special Zero Clearance insert plate and maybe a package of 5 wearable centers... I think these would sell like hotcakes... I would love to own one…

I've seen an aftermarket splitter just as you have described; I don't recall the manufacturer, however. It would be nice if Ridgid were to produce one for their saws.

I second Big J's idea. I have been building my own. I would rather direct my attention to woodworking and not building zero clearance inserts.

It doesn't have a replacable center section but I just bought two pretty nice ZCTP's at WoodCraft,on sale for 19.00 each

I think shortly after Big posted his message Ridgid did come out with a ZCI. It is just not carried at HD> You can order on-line for Ridgid Parts.

Some have voiced that they think it is just a cheap plastic thing not worthy of the Ridgid name. I personally like it.

The ones I got from WoodCraft are NICE,but a few bucks more. They have leveling screws and two srews to adjust fit side to side and front to back.

Here is a post I made a few weeks ago...

I bought 2 of the Ridgid AC1035 Zero Clearance Inserts from the Ridgid's online parts, and I'm very pleased so far... Ridgid service was very fast… Wish once again I could just get them at HD so I didn't have to pay shipping and handling but that's another discussion all together...

I bought the inserts sight un-seen... I couldn't get a picture or glimp’s from anywhere, so I just bit the bullet and bought them...

Anyway to make a long story short, I wanted to share a few pictures of them for you fellow Ridgid tablesaw owners that can't find or see one to look at either...

They are not as "solid" as the ones you would get from Rockler or Woodcraft, mine is already slanting on the right side in towards the blade and from the in-feed towards the blade as well, the material needs to be a little more stiffer...
