I have been on a LOT of sites (not all woodworking or tool manufacturers) and would think it would be very beneficial to the owners of Ridgid tools and other visitors to this site to post a knowledge base where Ridgid supplies answers or work-arounds to common problems or answers to frequently encountered areas of concern (i.e. the drill smoking encountered by many could have been addressed in that area with the answer available for all)

I know that a lot of that information is available within the forums, but it is often contained in the 12th reply to a topic that doesn't necessarily imply that the item you're looking for may be within. Only through diligent reading of all of the posts allows you not to miss an important item.

Use to be, a toll free call to tech support would answer such questions. Not sure if that is even in existance anymore.

Yes, I remember the "good old days." when you could get someone at tech support who knew what they were talking about. The past few times I've called I waited for a long time to talk to a person who was obviously using a database on their computer to try and answer my question.

If that is to be the way things are handled in the future, I'd rather save the time on hold and just access the database myself.
