has anyone grooved 10in sch 80 pvc pipe and if so can you tell me how it worked out. I have a job coming up and would like to groove it rather then glueing it.
Mike, I grooved some 6" pipe and used an o-ring in the groove. My application was for a vacuum dust collector system. It has worked well, plus I can take it apart if I need to.

I can see how it would work on a vaccum system but what about 40-50 lbs of pressure?

We have often grooved sch 80 PVC of varying sizes, no problem but you must derate the pipe 50%. presure I'm talking

I worked on a project about 10 years ago that used grooved Sch 80 PVC for chilled water distribution. They had problems with gasket leakage because the installer did not allow for thermal expansion/contraction. PVC expands/contracts 5x more than carbon steel.
