mildew type smell in duct work

I have a customer complaining about a Mildew smell coming from a duct (forced hot air) in a bathroom. any suggestions as to where I start to find the source (nothing in the duct in the bathroom that I can see.

First you need to make sure it is the ducts and not some mold or mildew where it can't be seen in the bathroom. Assuming this unit does not have A/C or a humidifier there should not be any water sourse to make mildew within the unit.

Another thing you may want to check is the filter. If they have a washable filter it may have some odors in it.
