I have had my jointer in use for several months now. No doubt that it is the best value in it's price range. Dead on out of the box. Fence was simple and quick to attach and adjust. Attaching the unit to the stand takes a little doing though, as on of the bolts must be passed up into the dust chute area. Tad tight! Adjusting the belt is best done by using good old gravity. Just leave the bolts loose, and when you turn the unit upright it will tighten by itself.
So far I have run Pine, Cherry, Walnut, Red Oak and White Oak into it and it does not miss a beat.
Rigid has made a fine set up in this jointer!

Love my Ridgid Jointer. Although i wasnt as lucky, mine wasnt dead on out of the box. I had a hell of a time adjusting the blades. I am not mechanically inclined at all. But i have a friend who is and he found it necessary to snug up the blades prior to adjusting the jack screws. this worked great and the jointer works like a charm.

Just purchased my Rigid ( my third rigid shop tool). I won't get a chance to assemble it till the weekend , but I must comment on the impessive way the unit is packaged. Best I have ever seen.
Anyone have some good tips ona mobile base..

walleye507@charter.net and I'll explain how I made mine. (Really it's just a box with wheels)I would suggest that you boild the base prior to mounting the jointer to the stand though!

How would you guys rate the Ridgid jointer compared to Jet, Grizzly, or Delta?

The entire upper cast portion of the Ridgid is nearly identical to the Jet and Grizzly. The bases are different, and Jet's handwheels are in front....other than than that....about the same.

Delta makes two jointers....the 37-275 is a good machine and costs ~ $550. It has a good rack and pinion fence adjustment mechanism, but it pokes out the back a ways. The JT360 that sells for ~ $350 isn't quite in the league with these others.

I really love my JP0610. it has performed flawlessly since I bought it a month ago. Mine was dead on right out of the box requiring now adjusting to level the beds.
My next purchase will be the Ridgid Bandsaw..just waiting for them to go on sale.

Oh Orangeman, Don't tease me like that. Any other details on the bandsaw. I would probably be willing to wait on the newer model if it included the riser block in the package. Come on, spill the beans, man. smile.gif

Nice to report that after 6 years of use my Jointer is still going strong..................

K.M Delano, nice to see someone give an over-time review of the JP0610, and on such a timely basis for me. Thanks. I have already decided on the R4330 Planer but was waffling on the jointer. Looking at all the Rikon and Grizzly's. The follow up on your 6 year old post really hit the mark with me. I place a high priority on the longevity of a tools quality. I'm $80 away from pulling the plug on both.

See ya when the dust clears,
Hector
