12" Compound Miter Saw

I got my saw appx. 1 year ago, The electric brake does not engage any more. Can someone please tell me how to fix it?

it could be the switch, the field or possibly the brush. the switch and field work in tandom, when you release the switch there is still power to the field ,and one brush holder which spins the armature the other way which acts like a break to stop the blade.
