Where can I find a good quality of 6" carbide jointer knives?

Don't know of a source offhand but have you tried a Google search? I would think that they would be very expensive compared to HSS.

I guess I should have asked that. IS the cost difference worth going with the carbide?
now here is a set ....

I don't know what kind of quality these knives are.
What is the general concencous among the ranks here with regard to carbide jointer knives? Are they worth it?

Space,
Someone on this board was claiming to have gone to a machine shop (local to him) and had his planner knives cut from shop stock and then had carbide inserted on the ends. The other claim was that the overall cost was less than retail.
It would make sense that a carbide edge would be harder than HSS.
Please keep us posted with your findings.
