am in the market for a tool to help me with installing laminate flooring (3/8 inch);have been looking at cutout tools (rotozips etc.) but also like the looks of the ridgig laminate trimmer. how would you describe the diffrences in these tools; the design and functions seem similar.

They are very similar to each other in function. The R2400 is far more refined and will function as a small router instead of just a cutout tool. I would suggest you go and hold each of them to compare adjustment ease, accessory quality and features

wbrooks,

thanks. I'm just not familiar with laminate trimmers and wanted to make sure it has the horsepower to make cuts in laminate flooring (which is thicker than regular laminate) and perhaps some other wood products. As you say, the R2400 seems like the superior product, but I just thought I'd ask for some input cuz the ridgid website doesn't offer much in the way of "you can use this tool for...." or depth of cut etc. Thanks again.
