How many would prefer having a small crank on top of the bandsaw in place of the knob for tensioning?
Would speed up tensioning quite a bit.
that would be better. But using the band saw smile.gif has probally saved my fingers

I would prefer to see a tension quick release lever instead of a crank. I can live with the knob, but the lever would sure make it eaiser to release tension on the blade between uses. smile.gif

I'm all for the quick release lever myself. It's available as an aftermarket item from Carter.

Not to boast about other brands, but Look at Grizzly's new 14" bandsaw, G0555. Roller guides, quick release, and a price that drops your jaw.
If I was in the market for a new bandsaw something would really have to tip the scales to buy the Ridgid over the Grizzly.
I rarley release the pressure on the blade because alot of times I make quick single cuts on the bandsaw and it takes more time to fiddle with blade tension than the cut itself.
I'm just a tad bit on the short side..... ok ok i'm really short  So far i haven't put my riser block extension on simply because I know it would be very difficult for me to reach the adjusting knob. I'd be all in favor of some way to remedy that ;)

Milk Crates.
I too am not of basketball stature. I have 6 milk crates parked around my shop to reach things most people do flat foot.
couldn't live without my riser block, and sometimes..ok, most the time.. I stand on a milk crate to use the bandsaw.
Could always take off the leg stand and let it sit on the floor I guess.
I'm a 1/4" shy of being 5'5" and have already decided to modify the stands on my tools when I get a more permanent shop.
