OK, here is my problem. i've been a member since 2002. in that time period i have changed internet servers 3 times. each time i had to change my name and password to get back on to ridgid forum ( becaues i am computer stupid)
I need somebody to explian to me how i can go back to my oringinal display name. The reason for this is, call me paranoid, but my wife brought it to my attention that 95% of the users on this forum do not ues their full name or true name, and i would like to display my ornginal or a nickname for my display name on the forum. Thank you ( i think i'm going to take a computer class) ha ha, any help would be appreciated- john.

Have you tried logging in using your original login name and password? I don't know much about computers myself but I don't see why changing servers would inhibit your ability to login to the site.

did you check the members list to see if your other names are still there??

John,
You just need to think of yourself as the leader of the pack! At least one other forum requires its members to use their real name, so you are just ahead of your time ;) .

Your computer has nothing to do with this or any online forums or sites. I change computers regularly and it has nothing to do with usernames or memberships anywhere. It is my guess that you get use to using the automatic sign in and forget what your password was. Most people will use thier IP email address when signing up and that can create a problem if you forgot your password. You can click on the button for Forgot Password but the site will send it to the email addy on record and if you changed Providers you will not have that email addy anymore. Anytime you join a site you need to go into your profile and change the password that the site gave you at signup to one that you can remember. I use the same password for all forum sites so I don't have to remember a bunch of diff. ones.

that is a reason (frequently changing ISPs) to get a free Yahoo, GMail or other such web-based email account and use that to register for online forums. Then when you change ISPs it is transparent to the forum. As a plus you can then log into the your web-based email account from any computer connected to the net. You can usually set these email services to automatically forward all or filtered email to another account, that would be the account with your current ISP.

Just go into your USER CP and change the 'display name' to what ever you want. TThis post has my name as 'changed it' instead of wbrooks.
Edit -- Hmmm figured display name meant the name that would be displayed, not sure what to tell you

Thanks everybody for all your help. I did go into my user pc, and tryed to change my name but i didn't work for me for some reason. the reason it got messed up in the first place is because i had to change my e-mail address 3 times with my new servers because i thought i had to change my e-mail when i had a new service. Eventually i will get it. Thank you for all your help. Maybe i will saty with what i have. Thanks - jon, chic, john chiclowe

Hawk,
How about posting a bigger picture. Some of the "art work" above the blue boxes looks interesting from here.

Worked like a charm, pretty work! Reminded me of some of the work I used to see in the power plants where they tubed up a gang of pressure transmitters. In fact, those 4 blue things look like Rosemount pressure xmitters from afar.
Thanks,
Jerry
