Hi all.

Okay got the HF DC and ordered two bags from Griz.

Okay I ordered these here.

http://www.grizzly.com/products/G5558

guy said might restrict my air flow.

He said because of low micron rating

Is this true?

And why would it?

Great site even with Ren and Stimpy.

Actually Reef, I went with a felt bag:
http://www.tools-for-woodworking.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2182
After reading all the posts and some books on the subject, I would rather loose a bit of flow than have that stuff floating around my house.
I'm still waiting for my HF DC to show up. I expect it this week. I still need to get ductwork. Or at least some 4" hose for the time being.

Let me know how you like your DC.

I thought the HF DC took a 20 " bag ... will the ones from Grizzly work? They look good for the price but are 3.0 micron ... I may still go the wynn filter route with the plastic lower bag.

Either way the real cost seems to be the tubing and hookups!

They fit okay but the machine will not inflate them so what I would call whimpy bags or something is whimpy.

Any suggestions bags are a good fit easy to do had the wife put them

on,even a better deal. plus Valentines day to boot:)

Ps something sprayed inside them about 3 times heavier then the ones that came with the HF collector.

wonder if because new and no dust we use to have one of those 20 HP ones where I worked and they were full or blowing off all the time.

Either way Great deal grizzly

How much ducting/piping do you have attached to your DC?

That's what I thought. Believe it or not, you have to have some hose hooked up to it to make it work right! 10 feet would prolly work. As a matter of fact running it with no piping attached can harm the machine, so stop doin' that.
So what do I need to do? I think you know now.
PS: When you fire that sucker up, make sure you know where the other end of that hose is! We don't need another HFCC (Harbor Freight Cat Collector) . It's a long story, but I think you get the idea. :p

Thanks Lorax.

will do on the hose, have it sitting out their.

will try on the TS Sat.

Kind of strange but you think with no hose and restriction would suck like *cough* leave that alone.:D

I got my HF DC all finished up last night! :D
Got the new felt bag on top and the new plastic bag on the bottom (didn't even bother looking at the stock ones that came with it.
Fired it out for just a second to make sure the motor works and all that...
Ran great! Both inflated just fine Reef.

Now i just need to get some hose and i'm all set!

I got my bags here:

I'm guessing you would want the 14" with the AP400.

I think this is the prefect place to discuse it, espeacially since I joined the forum 1 month after L, and you all have more posts than I do. When do you guys find time to make dust? ;-P

THAT'S exactly what i have been asking myself Durham!
I have to be here at work at 7:00 am and i don't leave here until 5:00 pm at the earliest (Ummmm... yes i'm doing this at work and no don't tell anybody :o ). By the time i get home, eat converse with the Little Woman, throw in some shower time... You tell me?
Not to mention I HAVE to watch 24 on Monday nights, then i am hooked on American Idol so there goes Tuesday and Wednesday, them my wife got me hooked on Dancing with the Stars so there goes Thursday and Friday!

I guess I am lucky that my wife is the kind of person that can't sleep until a job is done, so if I start a project, she is the one that excuses me from the table until I finish it, I don't have to work hard or fast, but I get a kitchen pass until it is done. As for the TV, we keep asking ourselves why we pay the $50 a month for Dish, we maybe put 3-5 hrs a week in front of it and that includes sitting down and watching a Netflix movie once or so a week, hehe.

Got the new felt bag on top and the new plastic bag on the bottom (didn't even bother looking at the stock ones that came with it. One little tip. Get a length of 1/4 x 3/4 foam weatherstripping and wrap it around the hub and then attach the plastic bag over that. Prevents leaks.

If you’re looking for duct I purchased the 26 gauge snaplock pipe and fittingsfrom http://www.oneida-air.com/products/ductwork/snaplock.htm . A little expensive but not too bad, I piped in five different machines, about 40 foot combination of 4 and 5” for about $300 and shipping was free and fast. I had some doubt about 26 ga. being strong enough for 5" but my DC won't collapse it.

I ran the 5” out of my HF 2hp and have had a little trouble with it plugging up(especially when I use the planer) at the inlet of the collector. I am thinking of cutting out the cross-hair looking support in the inlet. Do you think that will help or screw something up?

Has anyone checked into buying a cast impeller for a HF DC?

No on the cast impeller have not looked.

As to cutting the crosshair thing I think warentty would go out the window on that .
40' is a long way I think for this machine.

But I am not a duct installer have mine with 2 10' foot pieces of 4" hose.

So am I wrong or does it have to be in 5 " Pipe.

If so Good God Miss Molly their is no room to hang 5" pipe off the celing.

No on the cast impeller have not looked. I'm just guessing here, but I would bet a cast iron impeller that size would cost a lot more than the DC not to mention upgrading the motor to get it spinning.

As to cutting the crosshair thing I think warentty would go out the window on that . I agree, if they bothered to look.

But maybe something else Depression , anixety ,Alcohol

Oh wait those Bags!

No not at the moment just fixed a wiring problem in the house darn back stabbed outlets Eat you know what.

spent good part of a morning finding out which one lost the negative after having 6 dead all at once.

Crappy electician that built the house too lazy to bend the wire and screw them to sides ^^%$##%^&

But don't Fear L. I will get my bags up and inflated so big that they might burst and you will hear them go where you live:eek:

The forty feet isn’t as bad as it sounds. I have about 20’ of 5” up and across the ceiling and two four inch and one five inch drops to machines. I ran the 5” down to a multiport manifold that picks up a planer, jointer, and table saw. No single machine is over about 15 feet from the collector. As for cutting out the cross hair you are probably right about the warranty and could let some pretty big chunks into the impeller. I guess it wouldn’t matter so much if I had a separator.

If you have room try the trash can thing.

Have not run it as of yet with chips too cold in the garage.

But seemed to suck that lid down like no tomorrow on a dry run
