I hadn't even started looking yet.
You mean to tell me nobody has the most common trashcan ever made???
I thought that part was going to be a no-brainer. I was going to do like you and just run to HD when i needed it.
I'm not paying $60 dollars for a stinking trash can!!!!!

I can say that Costco and Walmart sell them in my area. They normally seem to run about $30 for the rubber/plastic type and close to $50 for the metal/AL kind. Not sure the rubber type will quite work in a DC environment or not, but I believe I have read somewhere they tend to squish up....

Good one TOD!!! :D

Well, i certainly don't want mine get squished up that's for sure!

$50 for a non-stinking trash can!! MAN!
Just imagine how much that darn thing would cost WITH the stink! I shudder to think

Well, i'll head over to Wall-Mart and see what i can find. Maybe they will have them on sale... yeah...

nobunaga-sama,

Sorry, made a mistake. Guess I am not sure if Walmart carries them or not, but I had intended to say Target. After thinking about it for a bit I believe that I have seen the metal ones at Lowes on sale in the spring time in the gardening section.

I will check at the store not listed on the web for either one.

But not no $60.00 for no trash can.

Maybe that neighbor deal is good, hope he don't come over and see it with his name on it.

maybe I should paint it Ridgid orange:rolleyes:

It's that darn Lorax doing all the trash talking! I'm just trying to learn from my friends here and he just thrashes me everytime.:(
What did i ever do to him?... :( (boo hoo hoo)

I can see i am going to have to go out and do some shopping around.
I supposed being Valentines Day and all i better not do it tonight - unless i can convince the wife that everybody else's wifes are getting stylish metal trashcans for Valentines Day too.

What do you guys thinK?

Except you Lorax... You just keep your comments to yourself!

He did start it ...."this time" ... hey ... You could always tell her that she was right and you do need to help her more and you're going to start by cleaning up after yourself more ... but you need something to put everything in! That would make it for her!!!! Right?

nobunaga-sama
02-14-2006, 03:39 PM
it's a good idea except for the whole help her more part... See, she would hold me to that. That's counter productive from my perspective. :(
Isn't there a way for me to trick her... I MEAN, convince her to see the trashcan as a good thing WITHOUT having to work more?

If we put our heads together, SURELY we can come up with something... right?

lwc_vcc
02-14-2006, 03:48 PM
OK .... try this .... you need the trashcan to protect the investment of the DC ... you can't let the propeller get broken ... Tell her the guys in the forum suggested that you spend $60 on one but after diligent search you were able to find one on sale for only $15.94 that you could make due with ... SAVING ALSO $45 (women love to save at sales) My ex once saved me $200 of course she spent $600 in the process ...woo hoo what a deal!

wwsmith
02-14-2006, 04:37 PM
How about "glamorous packing/wrapping"?? Get some $50 earrings and put them inside the trash can and give it to her. When she finds the earrings (after some most likely leering looks) you tell her you will put the trash can "away".

Ya, that was weak. :( But I guess I am lucky enough that my wife agreed to do the deed last night so we could avoid much of the hub-bub and craziness. :p

Hi All
If you haven't gone out and bought the store brand separator yet, ShopNotes magszine issue 55 has a nice plan and article for a shop built separator. By the way you can make it fit any size trash can.

Reef12
02-14-2006, 07:18 PM
So issue #55 you say .

and about how much stuff involved in the project?

Is it cheaper then the $29.00.

Will look it up as all this talk will be trash without it.;)

Ace Hardware is having a sale for President's Day weekend - one of those 20% off everything you can fit in a shopping bag dealies. Now just grab as many 30 gallon trash cans as you need and jam them into a sack - save you 20% each.

Sama if you are near a woodcraft store they have them on sale for ten foot sections. I have also used in the past the solid flex drain pipe.

02-17-2006, 08:07 AM
I doubt we have a Woodcraft around here (PooDung doesn't have much) but i'll see if Woodcraft has a store locator on their website.

I thought about the drain pipe material (since you see that stuff everywhere) but it seemed too stiff to be useful.

I haven't seen anything at my Lowes, but then again i wasn't looking for it either. I'll check there.

The nearest Woodcraft is 1.5 hours away. That's a long way to go for hose. :(

Hey fellas! My notebook's hard drive took a major ker-bang the other night. Totally KIA. So i set up this one at work until my new drive comes in.

Hey Reef, I finally ordered a two machine hose setup from Woodcraft.

Should be here tomorrow. (oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!) :D
Also order one of the $50 reconditioned Porter-Cable brad nailers they had on special (oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!) :D

WOOHOO! They opened a Woodcraft store 1/2 hour away from me!!!! My hubby's a bit worried about this turn of events. He's a musician, and I've gone with him countless times to music stores where he'll spend 4 hours looking at a guitar. Knowing the rules on turn-about and fair play, I took him to Woodcraft on Monday (they even had a President's Day Sale). Nobugna-Sama, you're gonna LOVE that little brad nailer. I got one since at $50 how could I NOT?!?! They're factory refurbished, but every one I looked at at the store looked brand new. PUNKA PUNKA *GRIN*!!!!!

I also got the Jet DC. The little guy. It's on wheels, so it's basically just a safer step up from the shopvac I was using. The can filter works really well!! Also, I'm able to dissipate the static much better so I'm no longer worried about the shopvac being a dust bomb. It makes a HUGE difference on the jointer!!

I'm still on the lookout for a good router and table combo. There's lots of good ones, but I don't wanna spend that kind of money!!!!

Oh...and I didn't see any cheap metal trash cans. Sorry. :D

nobunaga-sama
02-23-2006, 10:19 AM
I gotta move from this hole!
I would LOVE having a Woodcraft that close! Or maybe i would end up hating it... I predict I'd be pennyless and divorced in no time. :(

My nailer came in yesterday along with my DC stuff. :D PONKA baby! PONKA!! (Thanks for the new fun word L :p ) .

I'm thinking about getting the Porter-Cable 8529 router ($189)
http://store.yahoo.com/tylertool/po852hpvaspr.html
And the Rockler insert for it ($48.49 #67349)
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=1385
Make my own laminated table for the end of my 3650 and use the fence from it (with aux fence of course).
I've been weighing this idea for a long time now. Sometimes i lean towards just buying the Rockler kit ($370) and get it over with, orrrrr... do i save a little money and do it myself?
