Was thinking of using 1/2" birch for the base, and some 2X hardwood for the fences.

My question, is what thickness ply do I need for the base? I'd really like to use 1/4 to make the sled as light as possible, but I think that be too thin to keep the sled true.

Thoughts?

thnx. I decided to go with 1/2" baltic for the base. Using mdf for the fences (as recommended by the hardwood shop since I don't have a planer/jointer)

The 3/4 inch mitres are a little snug on the 3650, so I may need to get creative for my runners.

I made this one out of 1/2" Birch plywood. I used UMHW for the runners and some scrap oak I had laying around for the fences. I made the stop block out of some walnut scrap I had laying around.

I'm going to use the UHMW for the runners as well. Ordered some today.
