sump pump makes loud noise when stops

When the pump shuts off it sounds like a loud door slamming noise. It there anyway to stop this?

the noise you hear is the check valve shutting closed as the waste comes to a stop and tries to go back to the pump.

i would suggest to try a non -metalic type of check valve. also check to see if your piping is properly strapped so as not to make a rattleing noise when it's operating.

You can try moving it up as high as you can get it. Less water on top of the check valve will stop or help the noise. Depending on how high you can get it.

It could also be that your discharge pipes needs to be secured better.
