I am going to embarke on a deck/screened in deck project and will be in the market for a table saw for rips and dado cut. I will be using a hardwood called IPE.
The question is how much of a saw will I need (both power and accuracy) for this wood. From what I have been told, the wood is extremely heavy and hard. I would assume the more power the better, but am also concerned about the stability of the saw and accuracy. This wood is expensive.
I have looked at the TS2400 and Bosch, and in larger saws I haved viewed the TS3650, and I think I can get a used DeWalt 764 for around $600 with fence etc. Any thoughts? On the TS2400 can it be used while just sitting on the yard, ie is it stable and safe enough considering the weight of this product? Or should I go with a larger contracter saw if I have access for a short term set up in my garage form the poject?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken
