I think I originally posted this in the wrong forum (Suggestion Box?) It might be beneficial to post it here as well.

I read the write-up in PM magazine that stacked up the latest lines of Lithium Ion battery operated power tools (Ridgid 24v, Makita 18v, Milwaukee 28v, and Bosch 10.8v), and it was an informative article.

Two things that I pulled away from the article were: First, when is Ridgid going to release any information on their website about this new product launch? It always seems that the website is 24 volts behind. Second, Milwaukee is going to be producing a line of 18v Li-ion replacement batteries for their older, more saturated power tools.

So, my suggestion is this - Why doesn't Ridgid discuss and employ a similar strategy for Ridgid Nation (18v Li-ion replacements instead of the Max 2.5, that you can't even buy solo - except for on Ebay as a broken up combo kit). I thought this was a brilliant move by Milwaukee, and think that Ridgid should at least hear this from one of thier avid consumers. Just a thought... but, a darn good one I think!!

It is quite sad that you can buy ridgid items on eBay that the home depot does not offer..also many of the eBay ridgid products are not even listed here on the ridgid website! -or- offer manuals, parts, specs, etc.!!!!

What items you ask?

Well the 18 2,5AH battery
the 18v impact driver
the 18v saw
and a myriad of other items.

If you do buy them at eBay, buyer beware but often you may do ok
.
I notice there are some folks that have purchased a number of the ridgid sets and have pieced them out at significant profit! I say good for them, home depot and ridgid are the losers as many of those individual sales could have been done at their stores and thus provide the proper warranty registration.

The existing product registration is awful! We should be able to either mail or sign up on the Internet without all the cloak and dagger steps to achieve the "lifetime warranty"
If you try to register, say a 18v 2.5AH battery, you will not even find it on the list!

Please ridgid get your act together and simplify and support your products!
