Laser guide off?

Bought the new Ridgid 10" compound miter with the Exactline laser recently.

Works great but I notice that the blade actually cuts probably a couple milimeters or so to the right of the laser line.

Not a big problem as I can always accommodate for it. But is this common or is there any sort of calibrating procedure?

It's my first laser on a mitre saw.

This a quite common, with lots of postings questioning the accuracy, adjustment, usefulness, etc.

If you notice, the laser device mounts on the saw blade arbor, just to the left of the blade, where it casts its beam parallel to the blade. In this position, it cannot line-up exactly in the middle of the blade's kerf. I think a different design and location would require exact alignment. But then it would not move with the angle change.

So, the laser is mounted in the best position to act as a "guide", casting its beam just to the left of the blade's cut. In that position, it will move with whatever angle you adjust the saw.
