PEX tools

I'm interested in getting a tool so that I can use the PEX system. I am a contractor with limited need for the tool. It seems that most of the plumbers I run into are using the Wirsbo PEX tool, however that tool cost several hundred dollars. Home Depot and others sell a less expensive tool that uses another type of clamp. Would I be making a mistake to not buy the Wirsbo tool?

each brand of pex uses their own style of clamp device. you need to purchase a tool for the brand of pex you plan on working with.

if all you plan on doing is a minor repair on asst. brands of pex, i would use a "sharkbite" fitting. this wjll allow you to adapt to pex, copper, and cpvc of any brand.
