From RIDGID I would like to see a mini version of their SPUD wrench in about an 8 inch size. It would be nice to see several sizes and maybe a big one about 18 size too. I wonder if such would sell enough to make it at all worthwhile.

...I bet someday I'll find just the new spud wrench I'm looking for.

ATG,
Sometimes you need to look in places other than the obvious.
Here (http://www.facom.net/Frame.asp?langue=an&Cat=427) is a very similar wrench to a spud wrench; but at 230mm (9.055"), I guess it's still too long.
Here (http://www.cooperhandtools.com/brands/crescent/index.cfm?model_list=1&att_id=CRE001&att1=Wrenches&att2=Auto) is a 9" version from Crescent.

You might also Google the image of a spud wrench instead of just web sites. Image searches turn up all sorts of stuff that website searches miss.

All I can say is good luck. I know they're out there somewhere - I've seen one small enough to be on a key chain.

Keep looking and also this might be something for a smaller tool company to try. For RIDGID to tool up to make such would cost them millions. Unless they knew they would sell loads of them, it's a no way. Maybe you can carefully grind the jaws of an 8" pipe wrench flat and use it. Channellock makes a smooth jaw version of their famous T & G pliers. Maybe you would like a pair.
