I thought TTI owned Ridgid and Ryobi. I suspected Craftsman was in there also. This sight shows Milwaukee and Ryobi but not Ridgid
(EDIT) Nevermind I did find Ridgid in there

Emerson owns the Rigdid name. AFAIK, TTI licensed the rights to manufacture the Ridgid wwing tools. They still make some Craftsman items, but not as many as they used to. Orion makes several of the bigger wwing machines like the hybrid saws, 3hp cabinet saws, jointer, and others. Ryobi makes the some of the smaller saws.

My understanding of this situation is very similar to that of hewood's .
TTI owns Ryobi and Milwaukee outright. Emerson licenses TTI, through their subsidiary
company OWT, to manufacture the RIDGID brand of woodworking tools. TTI has an agreement/contract(AFAIK that's all it is) to manufacture some of the tools founds in the Craftsman line.
As far as Home Depot is concerned, they own nobody except themselves.

So who designs Ridgid tools? I have heard that they are just produced by tti for ridge tool. And I have also heard that ridge tool just owns the name and that when it was licensed to TTI they then designed and manufactured the tools. http://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-5327.html Anyone know?

Don't know who does the actual design work but Emerson/Ridge Tool maintained the rights to the product specifications when they licensed TTI to produce the tools back in 2003. I don't know for sure whether or not that is still the case.

It's been on lease to the wife for the last 20 years, and not properly maintained I might add. Just making sure she didn't sell the property rights from under me:eek:

You are just leasing it. We know who owns it, right?
And if you don't believe me, just ask her. :D
