Impact drills-- Two part question

Two questions pls:

1) Are the new impact drills that much better than a regular drill when drilling screws?

2) Are they as loud as I hear they are (no pun intended)?

They offer alot of control driving screws because they slowly drive them in plus because of impacting action and slower speed driver stays in screw head. Yes they are loud!!!!!

Agree entirely with Akita's answer. The guys on the job jokingly complain about the noise of my impact driver. But once they try it out, they always want to borrow it again.

I've never found the noise of my 14.4V Impact Driver to be annoying. It certainly isn't anywhere near the noise level of say a circular saw.
