What is the difference between the 12r and the 00r dies?

Is one easier or better?

I looked on the Ridgid website but it really didn't give me a description.

Second question is which vise do you prefer for manual threading, Yoke or chain.

We have the 300 at the shop but I am growing tired of hauling that monster to the job to cut & thread a couple pieces of pipe. I really like the machine though.

The smaller is easier to handle for doing the smaller sizes IMO.

I use a chain vise, I am not sure I have ever used a yoke vice,

At one time they made the third size 111-R and they still offer the 11-R
No 11R capacity: 1/8" -1 1/4 the 111-R has the same size as the 11-R but the ratchet is like the 00-R or the 12-R in it working, (the 11=R uses more of a through socket type drive)

first picture is of a 11-R and the second is actual of a 111-R but the drive is similar on the 00-R and 12-R . The third picture is of both the 12-R and the 00-R

I like the chain as it adjusts faster to different size pipe and it takes up less space.

I use a chain vise you can do gal pre fab C I and copper pipe

i have both the chain and the yoke. even the clamp on yoke for a bench or bumper.

the chain is great for more than pipe as the chain will grip odd shapes.

the yoke is a better pipe vise as the jaws are on top and bottom.



the 700 uses a yoke style 775 support arm/ vise as it's back up vise to lock onto.

the 11r dies also fit the 600 electric threader.

the 12r fits the 700 threader.

the rex threader is basically the same as the Ridgid 600, and Ridgid also makes a 690 and the 700 is more heavy duty unit.

I like the Rems Amigo 2 which will thread up to 2".

I would go with the 12R. They give you the ability to use the 700 down the road and it is a much better power drive. The 600 and 690 have plastic parts.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a vise that holds a pipe, all these years of holding them by hand.
