Well, under the circumstances I can well understand your disatisfaction and yes, I'd take them back and either try another or just move on to a different brand.
While I like Ridgid tools, there really isn't any excuse that can be made for producing a product with such a basic requirement that is flawed. It is obvious to me that TTI's assembly and quality assurance needs serious attention. I wouldn't let such detail keep me from further interest in the product line, but it certainly would require closer examination before I made a purchase!
