Bottom line is if you have the work ethic and skill sets you will make it... If you don't a rooter franchise will not help you.
Birmingplumb: It sounds like you have experience running a plumbing biz, best decision I ever made was going independant (I'm in year 3 and doing OK). The overhead of a XXX rooter franchise is a saddle you don't need as a young business.
Just use "Rooter" in your name, you can do that for free to get the brand recognition Plumbingprofit is speaking of

Though I would shy away from being associated with any XXX rooter franchise...
