Question

Could anyone tell me height of the TALL version of wainscoting on an 8 ft wall that you see in Cape Cod or Cottage type decorating? I know that the SHORT version is usually about 31 or 32 inches but cannot find reference to the TALL version.
Also is there some sort of carpenters "bible" that is available that would answer different questions such as these. Any titles or leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Can't directly answer your question about dimension on the wainscote, but I can recommend two good books, both from Taunton:

(1) Mario Rodriquez' "Traditional Woodwork: Adding Authentic Period Details to Your Home", and

(2) Craig Savage's "Finish Carpentry".

Both these are helpful. Rodriquez' is outstanding.

Hope this helps.
