I have a Rheem RAKA-037JAZ A/C unit feeding a Janitrol GMP075-3 Air Handler. I have the specs on the Rheem giving minimum / maximum amps as 22/35 I have no info on the Janitrol. I am trying to determine how large a backup generator I would have to purchase (in kW & amps) to support running these units. I am leaning toward a portable gernerator 11 - 18 kW connected to a manual transfer switch. If I am way off please let me know

The janitrol air handler would have to be a min amount of amps. The only thing running is the motor unless you have backup resistance heat and those are usually about 5kw per string or so.

Hope this helps
