Question

What are the differences between the drill R841151 which is sold by itself and the R841150 which is sold with the kits? The only thing I can tell is the R841151 has a metal grip on the chuck and the R841150 has a plastic one?

There is no difference in the drills.
The kits are registered using the drill. The model and serial of the drills in the kits allows ridgid to identify that you are registering an kit and not just a single drill
