Macerating toilet question

Has anyone actually installed a macerating toilet? I am curious how well they work and what type of problems they have. We have a customer who wants three of them installed in basements and don't want to install something that does not work well, and we will have to back up the guarantee.

In the early 70s I had one installed in the basement of a house I owned. All I did was cut the basement floor, dig the hole for the tank and pour new cement. A plumber installed everything else. The thing worked well as long as I was there. I would also be interested in hearing about any improvements since the 70s.

A macerating toilet has a motor, grinder, and pump. It grinds the waste ,and pumps it, upward, out of the basement, through a 1 inch pipe.
