    Re: Web Sites

You need to add metadata to your site, the home page especially.

    What is metadata?

<TITLE>RIDGID Professional Tools Plumbing Pipe Pressing Locating Hand Woodworking Power Diagnostic Tools</TITLE>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" >
<META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="The Ridge Tool Company, making the finest RIDGID brand tools for pipe fabrication, woodworking, drain cleaning and drain diagnostics.">
<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="ridgid rigid ridge tool company pipe tools threading tools tubing tools drain cleaners pipe cutters power drive pipe stands hand tools diagnostic seesnake propress">

This is the stuff that search engines feed on. See all those keywords (the one I have bolded)? They don't even have to appear in the VISIBLE text on your site, as all this text, the metadata, is hidden text from the average user.

This is the trick that causes a search engine to bring up pages that appear to be totally unrelated to your query on Google or Yahoo or the other search sites. So you search for "pipewrench" say, and if a porn site has "pipewrench" entered in as a keyword, the search engine will hit on that and return it to your browser as a hit with some level of relevance to your search query.

      Re: Web Sites

The technology provided on the design of website is not that special, considering websites such as prominere.com and applications such as flash that do the same thing. But, always good to be able to market a cool application that is simple to use.

I've got a tame webmaster to do mine. Probably a good idea! Sure it costs a little, but he updates from day to day, if I ask him, and makes new pages and headings as I need them. It's a "Connector C3" system, so someone good with computers could do the updates themselves.
However, like accounting, it may be a "time used" question. It's often better to be making something for a customer, instead of using a lot of time on accounts and computers.
Have a look at my site, it may seem simple, and basic, but it says a lot, and gets me customers.

It would be nice to hear what you think of it, being well aware that you're way ahead in that field in the USA!

I like the simple site designs.

One thing about your site--let's see if I get the terms right--when I'm on a page, I like the link in the sidebar to be a different color to show where I am right now. When I'm done with that page, the link turns another color to tell me I've already been there. See?

All that helps me when there are many pages.

Is that you in the weight room?

Your work is great. What do you charge per hour ($)? My logo would look great in metal..

Most web sites don't ever get found. I think that the companies that do show up, spend a lot of money to do so.
