I went to Home Depot lumber area. The orange apron asked [or east of the Miss. AXED]
    what I was looking for...

    I told him "a 2x4"

    He said "how long"

    I said " a long time as I'm fixing a deck"

He stared at me and walked away.....talk about poor service!

Well they certainly are ... I remember around 2000 when I built my shed I paid $ 7.95 a 4x8' sheet of 7/16 " OBS . Now it's over $ 35.00 per sheet . The only ones making a killing are the speculators / investors in the major sawmills stock and the sawmills themselves .

I'm hoping that it all comes crashing down when consumers and builders get sick of taking up the *** and demand drops suddenly.

In Lowes today to pick up a couple 2x4s. Select Fir pre-cuts were $9.30 each. I got them
a little cheaper with the Military discount but still double what they were 18 months ago.

I wonder what all the large forest fires here in Western Canada and the US West coast are going to do to keep the prices up?
