  • Beware!

BEWARE OF THE TROJAN VUNDO.H! IT IS SOME BAD JUJU THAT WILL LOCK YOUR SYSTEM UP TIGHTER THAN IMMODIUM!

My laptop has it and the only MicroSoft Certified Company near me called to tell me they didn't even know if they could get rid of it or what to put on your cpu to prevent it.

For now the advice is to back up, back up, back up important files. That way you can wipe the system back to basics & reinstall uninfected (hopefully) information. Also can help isolate it.

    I can't stand a virus writer.

      Re: Beware!

Thanks Arthur. But....it blocked internet access. Disabled traditional modem & wireless connectivity, blocked registry, made me unable to correct it.

Took it to recommended computer person. Maybe he'll need plumbing one day.

I wondered why you weren't on the Forum for a few days. We were getting worried

I had a worm virus last year that cleaned me out. Nothing left to do but reformat and start over. Lost everything on the drive

When's the last time you cleaned/tuned your water heater?

I had an old version of Norton on mine that was NOT updated. Whether it's true or not the computer tech told me that this is the newest version he has seen and did not know if ANY virus/malware would have helped. Guess I may have been a guinea pig of sorts.

Had to blow the dust off my old 98 machine. Halfway working though.

One thing that's frustrating is no restoration disks are sent with alot of computers now. Maybe partitioned but I and I think most others would prefer the disks and would pay the small amount it would add to the price of a new system.

First thing everyone thinks! And honestly, first thing I think when someone tells me they've got some crazy computer virus.

But I promise you I do not download ANY movies, pics, music, or programs. Porn or non-porn.

I've got too many memories to need it.

Where'd I leave my tape measure.

I've always used antivirus programs and have never had a virus.

Currently Norton Antivirus $39.95 per year. Catches problems in real time every download, cookie etc gets filtered through norton live before it ends up on the computer without a noticeable slow down.

And I have my fair share of, shall we say, bookmarks

Just throw that PC in the junkpile and buy a Macintosh!
I switched to Mac a few years ago and it has been awesome. I only got one virus EVER, and it was easily removed using free software. There just aren't many viruses designed to work on a Mac's Operating System (Linux I think), so they are virtually immune!
I don't even own any anti-virus software and so far haven't needed. Also my genius web-designer swears that Macs are superior and I trust him as he is a total computer nerd who makes his living with his computer.

Go Mac and don't look back!
