  • Digital Camera Recommendation

After my second retirement I sold most of my professional SLR cameras and bought a small Canon PowerShot A95, 5 mega pixel digital camera that my wife and I could use on trips, rather than haul large cameras & lenses. It worked great and made photos as sharp as my older Nikon F5. Now it is having a few issues and rather than pay more than it cost to have it repaired, I want a new camera.

I bought a Canon SX260 last week, and though it is very easy for my wife to use, the image quality sucks. The photos are very "soft" - lots of noise. I sent it back and am looking for something else.

I want a digital compact camera that will produce an extremely sharp image - nothing fancy. I have DSLRs for complex shots. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I've had very good luck with Panasonic Lumix cameras.
