  • Why not a sticky for inventors tool ideas?

    Josh,

I think this forum area needs a sticky with some information for people who come here looking for information on how to contact RIDGID with their ideas for new tools and other products.

Is there an email or phone number or snail mail address within RIDGID that queries of this type could be directed to?

No doubt RIDGID has an administrative policy or guidelines on submission of ideas for new tools and the like. Would it be possible to provide a link to that document in the sticky so people could read it up front and be better prepared on how to format and document their ideas for submission?

Over the years many people have come here and asked just how or who to direct their ideas to, and they have been answered in the forum as best possible. But how many others have come here and not found the answers to their questions and gone elsewhere taking their ideas with them, along with the potential profits to be gained by both parties.

Good question. We do have a formal process for accepting new invention submissions which starts with an Invention Questionnaire (I.Q.). The I.Q. is not available on our website now, but will be in the future. In the meantime, to request an I.Q. please send an e-mail to RIDGID (http://www.ridgid.com/Tools/Contact-Us/index.htm) or call 440.329.4761.

    Thanks,
    Ed

Thanks for your response Ed. Hopefully it will help someone in the future and those of us on the forum have something to point them to until the web site gets up to speed with the info.

Again thanks and please watch the forum for ideas and suggestions for members. My take is that even in a complaint (and I've made a few myself) there is something to be gained on how to improve a product.

Re: Why not a sticky for inventors tool ideas?

I just came across these Invention Submission Instructions for TTI.
There are three PDF files there along with an email address and a snail mail address.

Since TTI makes the RIDGID branded woodworking tools, it seems appropriate to post a link to it here.

Still think there should be a sticky message with this information so its easier for people to find
or a link to a web page with the information on making submissions to RIDGID and/or TTI.
