I think that Ridgid should sell the recip. saw separately. The same can be said for the light and the circ. saw. I bought the Porter Cable 19.2 volt set as separate pieces (on EBAY it ended up cheaper than the price for the quad pack AND still had all the warranty). Depending on what you do, you may OR may not want the recip. saw. In my case, I have used it more than the cordless circ. saw, router and jug saw combined! At retail, I would expect that the price of separate cordless pieces would be normally a lot more! Give Ridgid time on this point..... they will probably do what PC did.
The reason the combos are so much cheaper than buying the tools separately is that they only give you two batts for all four tools. Batts are the most important part of the tool and it stands to reason that the more batts you can get, the better off you are.
