Re: Delta 1HP Dust Collector at Lowes - $44.75

CPW...i picked up three of them over the past few years as they were on clearance @HD. got 2 for $7.00 ea. figured the hoses were worth more than that. BTW, the 2424 and 2412 that are specified as the saws the AC1098 will fit pre date the 3650. it snapped into the bottom of the table saw cabinet where the saw sits on the stand. the 2412 and 2424 are in no way related to the current portable 2400/2410 ridgid saws. they were lower end versions of the 3612, which was the predecessor of the 3650. as i noted in my post, i cut a 4" hole in the removable door of the accessory and added the pioneer dust shroud to it. now i can pull dust from under the saw using either the shop vac(2.5"), the DC (4") or both at the same time. the 2412 did not have an integrated dust shroud like the 3650 has, so i don't know if it will work with your saw.

bob d...the dust collector is roughly the same shape as the panels you added to your 3650. it does a fairly good job of covering the bottom opening of the saw cabinet.

i have no idea if it is still produced.

This WoodNet thread has the Las Vegas receipt:

And I've attached my Poughkeepsie, NY receipt which can help if you are closer to NY than NV. The Poughkeepsie computer says they should have two left.

I don't know if the dust collector or $3.99 gas on the way there was a better deal.
A inexpensive but useful add-on to this setup would be a cyclone separator that snaps on top of a metal 30 gal trashcan. For about $40 you can get the can and the separator and put them upstream of the DC. All the big, heavy items will be deposited in the 30 gal can and this will make your life easier and the system more efficient. Woodcraft, Rockler, Grizzly, and others carry the separator lids.

Let it be such work that our descendants will thank us for, and let us think, as we lay stone upon stone, that a time is to come when these stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, "See! This our fathers did for us."

is there a link to a cyclone separator that would accomodate a 4" dust collector as it would be of considerable benefit? i contacted oneida air about just such an item and they didn't support that application. their dust deputy product only supports shop vacs.

This one sure looks like it's setup for 4" ID hose connections.

Here's some info from Rockler on what they have.

Note: Get the device before getting a trashcan for it. You need to know the correct diameter for the top of the trashcan.
Put simple, take the cover and match up the trashcan. It needs to fit properly.

i was hoping to find a separator that employed some sort of a cyclone to improve the efficiency of the separator. when i go the separator route, i'll probably use this one
