  • the power of the internet and the ridgid forum

so today i go to a call in a townhouse project that i've worked for a good 10 years. a new customer and an issue i've been seeing more and more at other job sites.

located an abs joint with the non virgin abs resins that was splitting.

cut out the piece and discussed the issues with the owner. he's a lawyer and judge pro-tem. i explain the issues and tell him to goggle the abs class action law suit.

when i return from cleaning up, he's on his computer reading an old post of mine from the ridgid forum

so old that it's "imported from plumber rick"

it didn't have my avatar with my shake or hawaiian shirt attached.

i was amazed with all the info on the internet available, the owner stumbled across mine and was reading it.

i fessed up and proudly told him that he was reading my post

scrolled down to see toutahnow/ marks green light on along with members of the past,

    "plumber" and plumbdog.

the good old days, when 1 could write what was really on their mind

funny part, this is not the first time i've had this happen

had a hoa president refer to me on a propress job and then realized he was actually talking to me

and then the ebay auction on a super freeze 2500 that had a link to our site and a thread that i started

i guess i've got to be careful what i write

anyone else with a forum encounter

    rick.

Imported like good wine they say.

I get thank yous from threads I offered help on from years ago. The gift that keeps giving I suppose.

I just cannot get back into helping like I did because I'm too cynical, political and usually obscene most times.

There's my honesty for the hour.

Rick, I bet he would have found what he was looking for instead of your post if you told him to Google it rather than telling him to Goggle it.

I've been having total strangers walk up and give me chicken wings.

Can't wait for the waffles to start rolling in.

Yes but I bet they were 3-D goggles which made it easier to see the Googled results.

Sorry, I don't do waffles. You may want to check in with Willy Wonka.

Great! You have uncovered what the"C" in J.C. stands for!

Do you need DIY psychotherapy too?

Gene Wilder just seemed that way to me. But I only saw the film when I was an adult.

                      Ok Bobby.

oK. I'll bite. What is an adult male doing watching Willy Wonka?

It was on and a group of people were high, eating chicken wings, and then someone broke out a vacuum cleaner at midnight.

Charlie was the kid in Willy Wonka.
