  • Oscillating Spindle Sander - not oscillating

I have a Ridgid Oscillating Spindle Sander that has worked great for several years.

It recently quit oscillating. if you spin the spindle backwards by hand(counter-clockwise), it oscillates, but when running it does not and just vibrates.

Any suggestions on how to fix? Or what may be wrong?

      I fixed it!

There is a mechanism at the bottom of the motor that delivers the oscillating action. There is a series of pins on one plate and a series of holes in another. they became unmeshed - I realigned them and viola! it works...

This may happen when pulling the sanding drum off the spindle - but now I know how to repair it. 10-minute deal...

Based on the diagram on page 24, there is part #25, Follower Cam with a thingy above it with holes in it.

Is this what you're talking about?

If so, I guess you take the Bottom off!?

        Thank you...
