  • Ridgid flashlight questions

    1. Are the ridgid flashlights any good? I ask this in terms of beam-width, throw, lumen's, shadows, run time.
    2. Is the beam adjustable?
    3. Are they available without buying a full kit?
    4. Can the 18vhc battery fit into the r859 24v flashlight?
    5. how different are the rd849 and rd859 flashlights?
    6. has anyone modified the flashlight to accommodate a 3 or 5 watt luxeon led?

I like mine, use it on nights when there is no moon walking the dogs. I do not have my shop setup out here yet so I hang it over the vice as a work light or sit it on the floor and rotate the head to illuminate vehicle parts
Not sure of the lumen's but it can easily illuminate objects over 100' away
Shadows are not an issue and runs for a long time (never measured but I think it is about an hour)
    2. Is the beam adjustable?
Yes, it goes from spot to flood and the head rotates through 180° on a fixed off camber axis (points straight ahead about 45° left and 135° up- and all points in between on the rotation)
    3. Are they available without buying a full kit?
    On Ebay
    4. Can the 18vhc battery fit into the r859 24v flashlight?
    I only have the 18V
    5. how different are the rd849 and rd859 flashlights?

    I have not tried
