Where is the one this weekend in PA? I have seen a video of tractor square dancing (very wild and fun to watch) but never saw such live. It's wild what good drivers can do with tricycle style tractors.

While not an apple harvest festival, there is a big event starting Friday the 19th and running through the evening of the 20th with cleanup on Sunday. This is the Fulton County Festival held at the fair grounds in McConnellsburg, PA which is near where US30 and US522 meet. This is more about antique and classic farm machinery but there's more. Friday evening is a pickup truck pull and then Saturday morning is the parade followed by antique tractor pulling in the afternoon and classic farm tractors pull in the evening. A very special feature at about 8pm is pulling of Steam tractors.

McConnellsburg is located west of Chambersburg and east of Bedford and Breezewood, PA. From the East-West (main) PA Turnpike exit at US522 and head south about 10 miles and then look for signs at US30.

Web site of Grease, Steam and Rust Association - Event Holders: http://www.gsandr.com/index.html
Please note that they are a little behind on their web site info. This should be undated soon. If anyone wants to go, there are motels to the west in Breezewood and Bedford, and to the east in Chambersburg and Greencastle. There are some others closer, but from what I've seen I would not want to stay there.

PUBLIC WARNING: US30 and US522 have some long steep grades and both are 2 lane country roads in this area. Be sure to look for warning signs and do make use of engine braking when you can do so. Also, it is vital that you do stop where there are big signs with pull-off areas and read the info. The run away ramps are for trucks but a run away car may need to use them.
If you can do so, try to make use of the PA Turnpike and US522 north of US30. There are less nasty hills and curves to deal with.

Thanks for the info and I may head up to see it today. It's not that far.

When I saw "Arendtsville, PA" on their site that clued me in. I've been to it some time ago. If I can bust away, I'll try to see what they have this time.

              Re: Apple Harvest Festival

I miss small town country fairs, we have a orange county fair out here, haven't been, but it looks like another big city shin dig rather then a country shin dig, the surrounds just aren't the same.

not only that, the fair is about 1.5 hrs away depending on traffic.
