  • old pipe wrench

i have a pipe wrench that belonged to my dad. he was a plummer. he died in 1957 at the age of 59. that would make it at least 50 years or older. it is a six inch pipe wrench. on the sideit has "the ridge tool co elyria oh #6".
    would it be worth anything.

Are you looking to sell it? Can you get some pictures? Does it still operate freely?

          jgf,

          Welcome to the forum!

Old tools generally have to be rare to be worth any important monetary value. The exception of course, is to the serious collector; and for that, you'd have to show some pictures and perhaps do some searching on Google and E-bay.

If you find little monetary value to them, you might consider passing them to another family member if you don't want them. The value of certain tools is often in whose hands held it. I have a couple old tools that my dad left behind. To me, they're priceless.

My guess is I am not the only one still using 50-year old wrenches so I don't know how rare they are.

I agree Mark, it's not the fact that's it's rare, cause it's more than likely not, but rather I'd just like to own a piece of plumbing history, especially cause it's Ridgid.

Btw how come you don't use aluminum pipe wrenches?

6" pipe wrenches are cool. You'll never loose your keys with a 6" Ridgid pipe wrench

I own aluminum wrenches as well but only in 18" through 48".
