  • Broken PVC coupling nut broken and leaking - temporary fix?

At least, that's what I think it's called.

We have a Chem-Tech 200 series pump (made by pulsafeeder) in our basement as part of our chlorine injection system (we're on well). The nut (pictured below) on the bleed valve assembly is cracked, leaking, and making a huge mess - crystalized chlorine everywhere. It also reduces the efficiency of the whole thing (duh).

Is there any way I can temporarily repair this until the replacement part arrives? My wife would really like to have non-smelly water. Can I just use PVC cement and be gentle with it when screwing it back on? Any other ideas on how to prevent leakage in the short term?

Fyi, the crack - that line that runs horizontally across the nut - is circled in red.

    TIA.

    Temporary?

No seriously,I would use one of those 2 part hardening epoxy putties while the part was being acquired.

thanks for the suggestion. the epoxy putty looks very cool. now to find a local source for it. do they typically carry this at the big box stores?

              Ace Hardware should have it.
